Rethinking Zorba recovery from light scrap
In today’s market, Zorba has become one of the most valuable outputs in metal recycling. However, many yards miss out on this hidden fortune by leaving copper, aluminum, and zinc locked inside their light scrap, ultimately selling them at lower steel-scrap prices.
At Scrap Expo 2026, Zato presented an alternative to traditional, heavy-investment systems. If you can’t or won’t install a hammer mill, we have another way in: an integrated combination featuring the Blue Devil twin-shaft shredder, the SCL20 magnetic and gravimetric separation line, and the ECS Eddy Current Separator.
This three-stage process breaks the “accordion effect” in light scrap, liberating non-ferrous content and producing market-ready Zorba with high purity—all without deep foundations, permitting marathons, or complex civil works.
